This historic publication is an advertisement for the FHA’s Better Housing program. Authorized by the 1935 National Housing Act, the program allowed home and business owners to apply for government-insured loans to undertake property improvement or repairs. Applicants could seek loans either from local financial institutions or directly from contractors and merchants. Home-associated loans ranged from $100 – 2,000 and typically lasted three years, though terms of up to 5 years were possible with approval.
